Billionaires are usually very busy people, so they are not expected to have a lot of time to spend on social media. However, since the internet has become a platform not only for social activities but also for business, a number of billionaires are active on social media for various reasons. Tony Elumelu

Tony Elumelu is the chairman of United Bank of Africa and Heirs Holdings. He is also the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation. The business mogul doesn’t just create time for his family, he documents those moments on his social media pages.

He has about 903,000 followers on Instagram, where he posts about regular events in his life. The father of seven also shares his work accomplishments, business meetings, dinners and gym hours with his followers.

He is also on Facebook and Twitter, where he has around 458,000 and 1.2 million followers respectively. On average, he posts about three times a week. His posts attract an average of 30,000 likes.

In one of his Monday Motivational Quotes for August 1, 2022, he wrote about Facebook, “Let’s dream big but realize that hard work, resilience, discipline, staying focused and making short term sacrifices are the essential ingredients for success.” The post had 5,000 likes, 385 comments and 396 shares.

Femi Otedola

Femi Otedola is another billionaire who does not mess with his family, and he usually posts about them on social media.

Some of her children are artists – Tolani (Olawunmi), DJ Cuppy (Florence) and Temi Otedola, which adds to her appeal to young people on social media.

He often posts about good times with his family, business partners, and other activities he is involved in.

On instagram, Otedola has 1.4 million followers. In his last post (at the time of this report’s filing), he wished his wife “a happy birthday” and it drew reactions from several people, including fellow billionaire Tony Elumelu.

However, his messages on Twitter are not as common as those on instagram. Her posts about family usually have more engagement, especially those about her daughter, Temi, and her musical artist fiancé, Mr. Eazi.

Whenever he goes on vacation to different parts of the world where he owns houses, he shares the photos with his social media followers.

In a post discussing his friendship with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, he described the latter as his “good friend, brother and tireless leader”, whom he always enjoys “catching up with”. The post, which was published on July 6, 2022, received 21,259 likes and 1,367 comments.

On July 5, 2022, Otedola trended online when he endorsed All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, the Twitter and instagram. The post was met with mixed reactions as some people criticized him for his actions. Nevertheless, others felt it was within his rights to support any candidate he desired.

Otedola has proven that you can run successful businesses while creating time for social media without losing track of it.

Terry Waya

Terry Waya is the father of a former Big brother Naija roommate, Kiddwaya. He is also known as Mr Versace due to his love for the luxury brand. He has 192,000 subscribers on instagram.

Most of his posts relate to his holiday moments in various countries, including France, Spain and Turkey, where he attends high profile parties. His posts aren’t weekly, but when he does, it’s usually about chilling out with family and friends.

On his instagram page, he describes himself as a “public figure, agro-industrialist and investor”. Her love for Versace is evident in her posts as most of her outfits are usually from the designer.

Orji Kalou

Orji Kalu is a billionaire businessman and former Governor of Abia State (1999 to 2007). He is the chairman of Slok Holdings.

On instagramhe has 21,500 followers and on Facebook he has 184,000 followers, where he regularly talks about his activities as a senator representing the federal constituency of Abia North in the National Assembly.

In his last instagram post on August 18, he wrote, “Rumours can make you hate innocent people. Don’t judge people by what other people say about them. Be wise, get to know them for yourself, then make up your own mind. The one talking to you may be the one you need to distance yourself from.

He is also known as a sports lover and has often supported Nigerian national teams. Sometimes it adorns the Nigerian tracksuit at events.

Recall that on Saturday August 13, 2022, he made a post on Facebook over popular England soccer club Manchester United who were beaten 4:0 by Brentford. According to the politician, it will be the first time in 84 years that the club have seen such a result from Brentford.

His post drew mixed reactions from youngsters, who linked Manchester United’s defeat to him and his political party, the All Progressives Congress. Some people said that in the next elections in 2023, Kalu and his party will also be beaten at the polls.

This prompted the 62-year-old to warn young people commenting on his page.

In a video, Kalu said, “Instead of young Nigerians facing what business is, they are facing what business is not. When talking about Man United, they should respond to the club, not abuse a statesman like me saying this is how my party will end and all that.

Billionaire businessman and politician, Ned Nwoko has 508,000 followers on instagramwhere he describes himself as a “lawyer, environmentalist, philanthropist and Antarctic explorer”.

On Twitterhe has 5,026 subscribers.

He regularly posts about his family, especially his young wife and actress, Regina Daniels. He uses his page to talk about sports and environmental issues; as well as to clarify the rumors about him.

On February 20, 2022, he dispelled rumors that he was marrying another woman. He wrote: “Ned Nwoko marries another woman. This is fake news and you should not help spread it. If I want to get married, it won’t be done in secret. The post had 15,885 likes and 1,325 comments.

He also congratulated popular athlete, Tobi Amusan who became the first Nigerian to win a gold medal at the 2022 World Championships in Athletics.

On May 12, 2022, he displayed his Sports College Accreditation Certificate in Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State. It generated 9,736 likes and 637 comments.
