Brooklyn couple caught with loaded gun in Inwood | Herald Community Newspapers


Of them brooklyn residents were arrested after being found with a loaded gun and high capacity magazine in Inwood at 10:35 p.m. on June 30.

Nassau County police saw a gray 2014 Mercedes Benz four-door sedan in Inwood Park on Bayview Avenue after hours. The county park closes at dusk. Officers saw two people “moving excessively”, police said, inside the car.

During the ensuing investigation, police found a black Taurus 9mm handgun loaded with a 12-round magazine, as well as a high-capacity magazine holding 25 9mm rounds. The gun was stolen from Charlotte, North Carolina in October 2020. Police also found two packaged oxycodone pills.

Ronald Taveras, 35, of Fountain Avenue, is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, including one for a prior conviction on the same charge, and possession Fourth degree criminal with a weapon.

Shaquana Brown, 32, of Wortman Avenue, is charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a fourth degree of stolen property and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both were arraigned in July in Hempstead First District Court.
