Tunbridge Wells’ largest park will host the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year.
A series of events will take place at Dunorlan Park on Friday, June 3 from 12:45 p.m. to mark Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.
At 1 p.m. a military parade will take place at the War Memorial in the presence of the Mayor and the Vice Lord Lieutenant.
At 1.30pm, a colorful carnival-style parade will make its way to the Dunorlan Park event ground via Monson, Calverley and Bayhall Roads.
The Jubilee Breakfast is at 2 p.m.
During the afternoon there will be free attractions and shows for the whole family, including Caribbean music, some of the Queen’s favorite classical tunes from the Royal Tunbridge Wells Orpheus Male Voice Choir, the quartet of jazz The American Songbook, the dance performance Kings of Bhangra, a taste of musicals provided by the musical theater concert Beyond The Barricade and much more.
Friends of Dunorlan Park who, together with Tunbridge Wells City Council, owners of the park, maintain the park to keep it beautiful for everyone, and will have a promotional stand.
For families to enjoy, there will be a car show with a car from each decade of the Queen’s reign, face painting, Punch & Judy shows, balloon modelling, excavators and tractors to study and a life-size fire truck to explore.
Stroll through the main body of the park and grab a snack at the cafe which will be open until around 5pm.
Mark this historic day by joining the parade, having a picnic, visiting the food stalls in the park and enjoying an afternoon of fun and entertainment.
