KATMANDOU: A complaint has been filed with the police regarding the dissemination of false information about Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) on social networks.

The complaint was filed alleging that a document containing the forged signature of the Executive Director of the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA-Nepal) Development Board Khadga Bahadur Bista and the logos of the Government of Nepal, MCA-Nepal and MCC were misused on social media and that some newspapers and TV stations were also used to disseminate misleading information about MCC.

MCA-Nepal executive director Khadga Bahadur Bista, journalist Kanak Mani Dixit and analyst Arun Kumar Subedi have filed a complaint demanding that the origin of the false document be investigated and taken action against those involved in spreading the misleading information . They also said that the bogus case undermined the dignity of some people and organizations.

Police said they were investigating the complaint and trying to get information about some of the issues through Facebook and Twitter. Nepal Police Cyber ​​Bureau DSP Pradip Tamrakar said a preliminary investigation is underway.
