The digital operator, West Indian Ocean Cable Company, has emerged as the Telecom Wholesale Provider of the Year at the Tech Innovation Awards 2022 in Nigeria.

WIOCC Nigeria won the award for its outstanding leadership in providing wholesale services to cloud operators, content providers, and fixed and mobile operators.

This was contained in a statement from the firm made available to The PUNCH on Monday.

Formerly known as the Nigeria Tech Innovation & Telecom Awards (NTITA), the coveted Tech Innovation Awards are Nigeria’s premier tech sector awards and are considered the ‘Oscars’ of the tech industry.

Commenting on the award, WIOCC Nigeria’s Business Development Manager, Slawek Cieslinski said, “This award reaffirms WIOCC’s position as a leading player in deploying future-proof infrastructure at operator scale in Africa.

“We have the flexibility and scale to meet the ever-increasing demand for reliable, high-speed connectivity across Africa. In Nigeria specifically, we operate a large-scale resilient network that connects our county wholesale customers to the global internet and extends the network reach of international organizations in the country.

“Looking forward, our strategic investments in the new Equiano and 2Africa hyperscale submarine cables landing in Nigeria, and the ongoing deployment of a scalable national network across Nigeria will allow us to offer even greater support important to our customers in Nigeria.”

The awards ceremony is organized by InstinctWave, publisher of Techberg magazine, in partnership with the Africa Digital Economy Forum.
