Defense Headquarters (DHQ) on Thursday said ground troops with support from the air component of Operation Hadin Kai in the northeast and Operation Hadarin Daji in the northeast have killed a total of 44 terrorists.

The army also said that a total of 863 terrorists and their families comprising 136 men, 251 women and 476 children surrendered to troops in different locations including the towns of Banki, Bama, Dikwa, Gwoza and Gamboru in the country. Borno State.

Director of Defense Media Operations (DMO), Maj. Gen. Benard Onyeuko said this Thursday while briefing reporters on the successes of various military operations across the country between January 6 and January 20, 2022.

According to him, the terrorists who surrendered were properly profiled and handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary actions.

He said: “During the encounter, the troops neutralized dozens of terrorists and captured their gun trucks and other weapons. These operations resulted in the elimination and arrest of several terrorists, the recovery of an assortment of weapons, ammunition, livestock and other items of security concern as well as the rescue of abducted civilians. .

“In addition, the operational activities of the troops have continued to chase the terrorists from their camps so that they go with their weapons and their families to the north-eastern area of ​​the country. Therefore, during the reporting period, their own troops neutralized a total of 37 terrorist elements, arrested 17 of them and recovered 21 assorted weapons and 117 cartridges of various calibers of ammunition, while a total of 4 trucks weapons were captured from the terrorists. .

He revealed that some of the places where the operational efforts of Operation Hadarin Daji troops have yielded results are Gurbin Baure – Shimfada road, Gidan Saleh and Girnashe villages as well as Jibia town in Jibia local government in Katsina State, Wasagu City in Danko-Wasagu. local government of Kebbi State and Kara Kalmalo village in Ilella Sokoto State.

“As a result, these operations resulted in the neutralization of 12 armed bandits and the arrest of 15, including their collaborators. In addition, a total of 16 assorted weapons and 136 rounds of various ammunition calibers and 114 stolen cattle were recovered by the troops during the period. Additionally, the troops recovered 3 additional AK-47 rifle magazines and 4 motorcycles from the bandits, while a total of 3 kidnapped civilians were rescued during the operations,” he said.

He noted that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security agencies across the country have and will continue to maintain their position in efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action.
